Dave Wood reports...Life in the mountains was never easy, and as the outside world moves steadily away into the flash-bang, zap-speed world that is the 21st Century, villages that are left behind and have yet to find that glowing spark of something different that shines brightly enough to attract passing refugees from Planet Play Station, are struggling more than ever. There can be no doubt that many will not survive the coming century; some not even the next decade or two. Whether Cartajima becomes one of the unwitting victims of the Silicon Valley revolution, or whether it finds a reason and a means to live on, the years alone will tell.

SUR -
Cartajima is situated in the heart of the Ronda Mountains, its municipal area extending to the north through the Oreganal mountain range and to the south through chestnut, oak and cork woods. The high location of the town and its surrounding area makes it one of the most beautiful villages in the region, with startling contrasts between the sparse mountain landscape and the lower wooded land.
